Perempuan Gerabah at the 14th International Street & Open Air Theatre Festival

A play entitled "Perempuan Gerabah" (Earthenware Women) performed by members of Indonesia's Studio Theatre (TSI) has attracted an audience at the 14th International Street & Open Air Theater Festival (FETA) in Reduty Wilk, Danzig, from 15 -18 July 2010th.

The 75-minute play involved actors, stage decorators and earthenware maker Rasmi Bt Maskad. In the play, Rasmi demonstrates ways to make simple and small earthenwares to the audience.

Perempuan Gerabah is a film that tells of human life a mess, full of paradoxes, problems and ironies. This event inspired us to write and present the results of this work," Nandang Aradea, TSI`s art director who also directed the play, said.

Nandang explained that the mud in the job is an analogy from the world in which human beings strive to build anything, celebrate their success but, ultimately, destroy it.

The 14th International Street & Open Air Theater Festival FETA was participated in by a number of countries, namely Germany, Indonesia, Belgium, Spain,, Holland Sweden, Norway, Russia, Poland and Denmark.
